Why should I practice at Deha?

Deha Yoga is a studio that offers not just the physical practice of yoga, but is a space in which you will be encouraged to learn more about why yoga is so beneficial – for body, mind and spirit. If you want to come for a great workout, to build sweat and stretch your body, we offer that. Our large practice space, the Surya Room, accommodates approximately 35 yogis – with a minimum of 18 inches between the mats on all sides. This means that you won’t be sweating on someone else’s mat when the heat is up! Our large room also offers that glorious radiant heat for even, sun-like warmth AND a whole wall of windows to take advantage of the beautiful natural light. Our floor is non-slip, anti-stink and made out of recycled materials. We also have fully equipped change rooms - showers, bathrooms, hair ties, towels, you name it, we’ve got it! Our small practice room, better known as the Chandra Room, is home to meditation, private yoga sessions, restorative yoga and other practices that assist in balancing your being. We offer all the amenities – ample parking, beautiful practice rooms, an extensive and eclectic retail boutique, showers and towels, yoga classes and private sessions, massage and energy work. A place to hang and drink tea. A place to curl up and read a book. A place to sweat or slow down. Deha is a place that feels like home – warm, welcoming, friendly, always judgement-free. When you join Deha, you truly join a family.


Can I still practice if I have pain, an injury or am sick?

Yoga can be an important part of the healing process, both of body and mind.  You can most definitely practice yoga with all of these conditions but please avoid practicing at the studio if you have a contagious illness like a flu. For all other illnesses or injuries, we highly recommend a private yoga session with one of our knowledgeable instructors. You can book a private yoga session by calling the studio. We will pair you up with the teacher that is most suited for your specific situation.  A private session is a really great way for you to get to know us and for us to get to know your specific needs, current limitations & health goals. Remember, yoga can be used as both a preventative tool as well as a catalyst to assist the body in healing itself.  We would be honored to be a part of your healing journey!


How early should I get to the studio before class?

We highly recommend 10 minutes, just to get settled. It’s nice to have a bit of time in the room before class to let your mind relax! If 10 minutes is not doable, just get here before class starts! If you are new to the studio, please arrive 15 minutes before your first class to fill out paperwork, get a studio tour, meet your teacher and get settled. No new students will be allowed into class after it has begun.


Remember, once the doors to the practice room close and class begins, no one may enter.


What if I’m late to class?

We do not allow late-arriving students into the practice room. This means that once the doors to the practice room close and class has begun, no one may enter. We find that late-arriving students "disturb" the energetic connection already created in the first few minutes. So please, give your practice, your teacher and your fellow students the respect that is deserved by arriving to class on time.  

If you do arrive after those doors close, please know that you are always more than welcome (and encouraged!) to hang out, have a cup of tea, sit on the couch with a book or roll out your yoga mat in the Chandra Room and do your own thing! 

Should I eat or drink before class?

We encourage you to avoid a heavy meal before any yoga class. Not only can it lead to nausea and stomach discomfort, it can be tough to concentrate when your belly is tasked with digesting a big meal. On the other hand, it can also be tough to practice when you are really hungry – so pick something small and healthy, like a banana or a handful of nuts, to eat 20-30 minutes before class. Definitely hydrate well (ideally you stay hydrated all day long) before any practice to reduce the likelihood of light-headedness. Continue to hydrate after practice as well (especially if it was a sweaty one) to replenish the fluids that you released. This will also reduce the likelihood of soreness over the following couple of days.


What do I need to bring to class with me?

We are happy to provide you with everything you need to practice at Deha.

Cold filtered water for your water bottle (please bring your own vessel), yoga mats that are hand-washed daily and machine-washed monthly (and are FREE to use), an extensive selection of yoga props to assist you in your practice (blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps, lavender eye bags, massage balls, sand bags, meditation cushions) and towels (for sweat or for showering after class). We also have soap, shampoo and conditioner in each shower and an array of amenities in each bathroom (hair dryers, hair ties, Q-tips, tampons, etc...).

Please leave your cell phone in the locker room or your vehicle - NO electronics are allowed in either practice room.

Should I register online to reserve my spot?

Absolutely! The easiest way to access Deha’s online registration system is through our mobile app. You can also download the apple/android versions of our app at the bottom of this paragraph. You'll log in to your account through the app and then it will let you register and pay for any class or workshop. When you register for a class online, you have peace of mind knowing that you have a spot saved for you. You can always just show up and hope that there is space in the class you are wanting to take. Your third option is calling the studio – we will put your name in the class.

What is Deha’s Class Cancellation policy?

We currently do NOT have a late cancellation policy.  

We understand that life gets a bit hectic at times and sometimes we just can't make it to our yoga class! Please don't fret, friend. We will never charge you or take a class away from your package if you late cancel (pre-register but then don't show up) out of a class. However, we do ask that as a courtesy to your teacher and fellow students that you cancel out of a class at least 1 hour prior to class start using the Deha Yoga app. That way another student has the opportunity to sign up and take your spot and your teacher has a better idea of who will be coming to class. This helps us plan our classes to better fit the students that are present.

What are Deha’s refund policies?

Refund policy for Single Classes & Class Packages:
All payments for single classes and class packages (5, 10) are final sale and non-refundable. Remember, however, that you may SHARE YOUR PACKAGE with whomever you choose. This means that your partner, friend, roommate, neighbor or mailman can use a punch off your pass! You just let us know at the front desk when you are both checking in for class.  

Refund policy for Series and Workshops:
All payments for Series and Workshops are final sale and non-refundable. However, payments may be credited back to your account to be used toward future classes if you cancel out of the workshop or series class that you registered (and paid for) at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class. We do not provide a refund if the workshop or series class has already begun. Please contact the studio with any questions or concerns; we are here to help!

Refund policy for Retreat and Teacher Training DEPOSITS:
Retreat deposits and Teacher Training deposits are final sale and non-refundable.

Refund policy for Retreats and Teacher Trainings:
Payments made toward Retreats and Teacher Trainings are refundable up to a certain percentage (LESS THE DEPOSIT), depending on how far away the Retreat or TT start date is.

> If start date is more than 90 days away = 90% refund
> If start date is 30-90 days away = 70% refund
> if start date is within 30 days, no refund is given (this is because retreats and trainings are expensive to host, plan and execute!)  
Exchange Policy for Retail Items:
Payments made towards retail and books are final. Items may be exchanged within 7 days of purchase as long as the tags are still on, the item is still in new condition and the purchase receipt is presented.


Refund Policy for Massage, Room Rentals or Private Yoga Sessions:

Payments taken for the above services are non-refundable but may be returned to your account for use towards future products or services. Please note that payment for Massage Services are taken at the time of booking and if the appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time, there is no refund or return to account. New Student Guide

Here are some tips before you come in:

  • Go ahead and take a peek at the FAQs found on this page.
  • Start by reading the descriptions of our classes to help you decide where you'd like to start.
  • Check out the class schedule to find your chosen class.
  • You can either register online (click on SIGN UP next to the class and follow the prompts) or you can simply come on in to the studio and register in person.
  • Come to class!
  • Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to your first class so you can check in with the teacher, register and pay for class (if you haven’t done that yet) and get a studio tour.
  • We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you feel good moving around in and sitting/lying on the floor (generally we encourage students to stay away from cotton in the heated classes and to stay away from extra tight clothing in the slower, more gentle classes).
  • Locker rooms are available for changing and/or showering.
  • We do have yoga mats and shower towels available for use at no charge.
  • We also have a filtered water and tea station, so please bring your own water bottle. We offer several types of tea and tea mugs are available to use free of charge.
